The  Wonder of Learning Boston exhibit is coming to Boston University/Wheelock College this summer and I’m so proud to have worked on the website design and maintenance for the past year, since it’s inception. With doors opening in a few weeks, it was time to do a site refresh.

The first item on the list was to add the Event Calendar Pro and hook it up to EventBrite so they can create events and manage the events through EventBrite and it’s easily imported to their website. The calendar events are peppered throughout the site and featured in different formats.

A blog was added for the Wonder of Learning hosts, and a Press page was created for important updates. Multiple different types of multimedia have been recently added to the site as well.

To assist the team I created a custom 10 minute instructional video explaining how add events and populate the calendar easily.

We also optimized the site SEO to improve search engine rankings by adding appropriate meta tags, descriptions, and image ALT tags.  Custom Google Maps were added throughout.

In addition to functionality, they also wanted their logo refreshed with more “Reggio” colors so we did a consult on colors including an earthy teal, the Wonder of Learning orange, and a complimentary gray. We removed other unnecessary colors that made the site and marketing materials too busy. The team was very happy with the new logo design.

The new color scheme was applied throughout the site design.
