Literacy Partners, an organization that provides state of the art professional development in literacy for educators in southern California, desired a new website, brand and vibe for the new decade. The team came to me to put it all together on the web. I was presented with a brilliant new brand design guide, logo + media from Michelle @ Let Her Fly, and engaging copy from Jaqueline. In addition to their fantastic photo shoot and all the new brand features, in two months, I was able to create a lively and modern site that tells the story about Literacy Partners on the web and creates a place for them to grow!
Their old site was not responsive and didn’t look great on most devices and had content that was outdated so we started from scratch on WordPress. Previously they were using an eCommerce store for events. We revamped with Event Calendar software that hooks into the powerful Eventbrite booking system. This allows the team to collect different types of registrations online and use their system at the door for events. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, they changed up and went virtual and this was when we bridged the site with Kajabi’s online course system, removing all in-person events. The site was designed for flexibility, and we were able to save the booking system for later use while quickly implementing a new system.
The LP site is connected to Drip CRM for data and marketing automation to build personalized marketing experiences, drive meaningful engagement, and earn long-term customer loyalty. There’s a newsletter signup at the bottom of each page that’s triggered after a while and hidden to current subscribers.
Literacy Partners is big into newsletters and blogging and I created a blog that has next/previous links at the bottom to encourage continued reading throughout the site. It also has social media sharing enabled on each post.
The site has a custom login page/admin back-end and unique design features such as a loading splash screen with the logo, custom scroll bar design, and a theme that blends into the browser on mobile devices. It was custom designed on the excellent Divi 4 theme by Elegant Themes.
New Year, New Decade, New Look.

How-to client videos
Once a client site launches, I make a few instructional videos for the team to use to edit their page content if desired. Literacy Partners are on the Essential Maintenance plan, so they have 2 free hours of maintenance work a month, they don’t need to make any edits, but if they want to make a quick change, here’s how. This video explains how to add a blog post, perform simple updates to their pages, and import content from EventBrite to their Event Calendar.
